Here are some of the most common opinions you'll come across in that grade.I. Apparently, many kids are not good at writing an essay and they can't even write a term paper on the topic of their essay. In fact, many fourth graders think that they have to do this to get accepted into college. I'm sure your parents would like to hear that and believe it to be true.II. Parents who are concerned about their child's academic performance often cite the negative consequences of an opinion on a story that they've heard before. Just because someone has told you a story before doesn't mean it's right.III. While I don't want to scare parents away from the Fourth Grade essay topic of their choice, there is a way to answer the question correctly. Tell them that there is a much better way to tell their story and that is by using an essay that has be en written earlier that deals with the same thing, or the theme, as their topic.I. Many fourth graders think that writing an essay on anything other than an interest will automatically make them lose points for being boring. However, an interesting essay does not always win points.II. Finally, children should never attempt to write an essay that they believe to be their own opinion. If you do, you could be writing an opinion that will surely get you in trouble when it comes time to present your paper.III. So, when it comes to opinion, students should keep the truth in mind and present a balanced view of the information.
